What is Quran?

Quran is the last and final testament of All-Mighty God Allah, may He be Exalted which was sent as an instruction manual, as guidance to all of Humanity. It was given to last and final messenger Muhammad peace and blessings be upon him. All-Mighty God Allah sent many prophets and messengers as He says in Surah Fatir Chapter 35 Verse 24:

And there was no nation but that there had passed within it a warner.

Every Prophet that was sent before Prophet Muhammad was meant only for that particular period of time and the scripture or instructions, he was given were also to be followed for a particular time period. Prophet Muhammad, may peace and blessings be upon was the last and final messenger who was sent for all of humanity and was given the last and final scripture which is to be followed by all of humanity till the last day.

In Arabic, the word "Quran" comes from the word meaning al-qar, which means "gathering" and "putting things together." It is so called because it is a collection of all the siwar (chapters) (plural of surah (chapter).  It was also suggested that it is so called because it combines the fruits of the previously-revealed books, or because it combines all kinds of knowledge. ( Al-Itqaan by al-Suyooti, 1/162-163).

The Qur’an is the word of Allah, may He be exalted, and is not created.

What is meant by that is that Allah, may He be exalted, spoke the words of the Qur’an, which Angel Gabriel (Jibreel) (peace be upon him) heard from Him, and brought down to the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him), and conveyed it to him.

All of the attributes of Allah, may He be exalted, are uncreated; they are eternal, with no beginning. The words of Allah are among these attributes, and that includes the Qur’an. Therefore, the scholars said that the Qur’an is not created, because it is the words of Allah, and that is one of His attributes.
